2022년은 우리 농업의 인력 부족, 일부 농산물 가격 하락, 국제 원자재 파동과 달러 환율 강세로 인한 각종 농기자재 가격 인상 등으로 농가의 부담이 가중된 한해였다. 하지만 이러한 어려움 속에서도 우리 농업·농촌은 새롭게 그 중요성이 인식되고 있으며, 미래를 향해 꾸준히 나아가고 있다. 우리 농식품 수출은 확대되고 있으며, 농업의 디지털화 전환을 위해 농업의 생산·유통·소비의 전 과정에 있어 새로운 변화가 시도되고 있다. 또한, 푸드테크 등을 농업과 결합해 부가가치 제고를 위한 노력을 기울이고 있으며, 농촌의 난개발 해소와 지역소멸에 대응하기 위한 다양한 방안을 강구하고 있어 앞으로 달라질 우리 농업과 농촌의 미래에 대해 큰 기대를 갖게 된다.

농업계와 비농업계 모두가 역량을 모아 농업·농촌의 구조적 문제에 대한 해법을 모색하고, 격변하는 국제 정세 속에서 농촌이 우리나라 경제위기를 극복하고 나아가 국민의 삶의 질을 제고시키는 기회의 공간으로서 큰 역할을 담당해야 할 때이다.

한국농촌경제연구원은 올해도 ‘농업·농촌에 대한 국민의식조사’를 실시하여 국민들의 농업·농촌에 대한 의식 변화와 농업 관련 현안들에 대한 견해를 파악하고자 하였다. 조사는 2022년 11월 14일부터 12월 19일까지 실시하였으며, 도시민 1,500명과 농업인 1,078명 등 국민 2,578명이 참여하였다.

○Since its establishment, the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) has operated a system of local respondents selected from rural communities. KREI has surveyed its local respondents at the end of every year to understand changes in farmers’ opinions. With urban residents added in the survey pool in 2006, KREI has tracked changes in the opinions of farmers (producers) and urban residents (consumers and taxpayers) regarding agriculture and rural areas. Through this survey, KREI has identified their policy demand.

○Based on the questions redesigned in 2013, our survey questionnaire included fixed questions and periodic questions (for every year, every other year, or every three years) with respect to agricultural issues.

○The 2022 survey, which targeted 1,500 urban residents and 2,500 farmers, used face-to-face interviews for the former through a pollster and mail questionnaires for the latter.

○Both farmers and urban residents selected a stable food supply as the most important function of agriculture and rural areas in the present. As their important function in the future, however, farmers selected environmental conservation, while urban residents selected a stable food supply.
