KREI Implements KAPEX Academy Program

The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held an opening ceremony of the KAPEX Academy (Visiting Program) June 12. The KAPEX (Korea Agricultural Policy Experience for Food Security) Academy is a program nurturing global talent that KREI has implemented for four years. This year, the program will be carried out for nine public officials and researchers in the agricultural and rural fields from Nepal, Uzbekistan, and Colombia for three months (June 12—September 14, 2017).

The training program consists of over 30 lectures and field trips regarding policy situations in such fields as the production and marketing of agricultural and livestock products, agricultural management, and rural development. Also, trainees will conduct research on their field of interest by country with KREI’s related experts, and the results will be actively reflected in each partner country’s policies.

In the opening ceremony, KREI President Kim Changgil emphasized, “If trainees share Korea’s cases of successful agricultural policies through this academy, it will be an opportunity to greatly contribute to developing nations’ agricultural and rural development.”
