The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI, President Kim Changgil) hosted a "Talk Concert on Gardens for Children's Personality Education" in the first meeting room at the National Assembly Member's Office Building on October 21 (Friday).
Approximately 100 people attended the event, including members of the National Assembly (Lim Jongseong, Gwon Mihyeok, Kim Byeonguk, Kim Hyeongwon, and Baek Hyeryeon) belonging to the National Assembly Saengsaeng Garden group, National Assembly Chairman Jeong Segyun, related institutions such as the Korea City Farmers Association, the Rural Development Administration, and the Office of Education, families participating in the Kkumteul Children's Garden, and citizens, with Kim Mihwa as the host.
The participants proposed urban agriculture as one of the solutions to the recent social issue, adolescents' personality problem, and had presentations and discussion on the role of communication among generations in vegetable gardening.
President Kim said, "Personality education for children is a very important value for our country's future, and school gardens are an important place for children to experience and understand the value of farming. This event is very meaningful in terms of the spread of this value." He also said, "KREI will keeping expanding research for promoting an urban-rural win-win through urban agriculture."
