The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held the 2015 KAPEX Academy opening ceremony on June 1 at KREI’s main conference room. This academy, the second pilot project following last year, is a sixth-month training program (June 1-Nov. 27, 2015) for nine public officials in the fields of agriculture and rural areas from developing countries including Rwanda, Paraguay, and the Philippines.
The KAPEX (Korean Agricultural Policy Experiences for Food Security) program, which started in 2013, performs consulting to strengthen food security abilities of four partner nations (Rwanda, Paraguay, the Philippines, and Myanmar) this year.
The KAPEX Academy aims to enhance developing countries’ officers’ capacity to establish and implement rural and agricultural policies. This year’s program consists of field trips and more than 30 lectures on the current state and policies of agricultural and livestock products production and marketing, rural development, and agricultural technology. Also, professors in charge of participants will guide their individual research in the fields of their interest.
