The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) hosted 2014’s third KREI Forum on the theme of “Finding Ways to Develop Sixth Industrialization in the Rural Economy’s Changes” on Wednesday, September 1.

Various persons related to sixth industrialization from KREI, each region, and public officials attended the event, listening to the presentations on the development direction of the sixth industrialization of agriculture and rural areas and joining the discussion. The participants especially sympathized with the importance of a young workforce and the use of endowed resources for the successful sixth industrialization.

At the end of the debate, KREI President Choi Sei-kyun emphasized that the sixth industrialization aims to invigorate a region through local residents’ creation of value added and jobs by utilizing regional resources. He also mentioned the significance of employing local natural resources, as in Hwacheon County that has vitalized the region by using water resources.
