The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) and KARAFIS, an academic association for the rural industry, jointly held the 3rd Rural Policy Forum 2011 to discuss rural policy achievements and new challenges.
Three presentations were made at the forum. KREI researcher Kim Jeong-Seop delivered a keynote speech titled "critical examination of the transition process of rural development policy."
He examined the achievements and limits of rural development policy and suggested future policy directions based on a study of major rural development projects of the past.
Prof. Lee Ki-Won of KARAFIS gave a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the achievements of the so-called "new vitality industry projects" and suggested future development directions to follow.
Prof. Son Eun-Il of International University of Korea presented the results of a survey on new vitality projects using performance analysis and self-diagnosis models.
A general discussion followed presided by Prof. Yoon Won-Keun of Hyupsung University. Participating at the discussion were Prof. Kim Yong-Geun of University of Seoul, reporter Kim Hyun-Dae of Hankyoreh, and Yoon Dong-Jin of the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
