Agriculture Minister Suh Kyu-Yong Pays a Visit to KREI

Suh Kyu-Yong, minister of agriculture, forestry, fisheries and food, paid a visit to Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) on July 25. The minister received a state-of-affairs briefing after he met with Oh Se-Ik, president of KREI.

After the briefing, Minister Suh delivered a special lecture on policy directions and major pending issues of agriculture and rural development. During the lecture, he said he will work hard to make agriculture a sustainable industry and pay greater attention to finding and developing new engines of growth in the agricultural industry.

As for the future direction of research at the institute, Minister Suh asked the institute to conduct down-to-earth preemptive research, including public trust-winning research, research on finding and developing new engines of growth in the agro-food sector, and research on stable price policies of advanced countries.
