KREI Holds a Joint Seminar with China's RCRE

 

     

 

  The Korea Rural Economic Institute held a joint seminar with China's Research Center for Rural Economy (RCRE) on May 17 at the KREI Conference Hall. The seminar was held to discuss the current state and prospects of agricultural trade between Korea and China. At the opening ceremony, President Oh Se-Ik delivered a welcoming speech and asked the participants to make best use of the seminar to broaden their understanding of agriculture in both countries and promote mutual cooperation between the two institutes. 

   The themes of presentations delivered at the seminar were concerned with the following topics: development of China's agricultural trade (Dr. Wangli of RCRE), the current state and prospects of Korea's agricultural trade (Moon Han-Pil, research fellow of KREI), the current state and challenges of agricultural industrialization management in the context of China's 12th five-year plan (Dr. Zhang Zhaoxin of RCRE), and the current state and structure of agricultural processing industries (Dr. Lee Yong-Sun, senior research fellow of KREI). 

   At the general discussions presided by KREI Vice President Kwon Tae-Jin, in-depth discussions were held to discuss the following topics: price stabilization of agricultural commodities, agricultural industrialization and leading companies in China, China's temporary intervention policy during the 2008 financial crisis, and mutual complementation and competition in the agricultural trade between Korea and China.
