The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held the "1st KREI Agricultural Policy Symposium" for future sustainable growth.

The event was jointly organized with the Korean Agricultural Economics Association and took place on Thursday, February 1st, starting at 1:30 PM at the Emerald Hall of the Federation of Korean Industries Building in Yeouido, Seoul.

The symposium focused on the theme of "Future Sustainable Growth" and featured presentations and expert discussions on the introduction of price support systems for major agricultural products such as rice and vegetables, as well as the implementation of compulsory rice purchase systems, based on domestic and international cases and current situations.

The first presentation was delivered by Professor Park Eun-cheon from the University of Arkansas, who spoke on "Agricultural Risk Management Policies in the U.S." Following this, Professor Ito Shoichi, Emeritus Professor at Kyushu University, presented on "Current Agricultural Policy with Income Stabilization Procedure in Japan." Subsequently, Professor Kim Jong-in from Incheon National University discussed "Debate and Challenges Regarding Grain-related Law Amendments," while Professor Ahn Byeong-il from Korea University addressed "Current Status and Challenges of Agricultural Price Stabilization Policies." After the presentations, a panel discussion was held.
