KREI hosts Agricultural Outlook 2022 online for two days, from January 19 to 20

KREI launched the Agricultural Outlook 2022 on January 19, under “New Hopes for Agriculture and Rural Communities.” It has held the conference for 25 years, attended by farmers, scholars, policymakers, and public officials for discussions to seek improvement directions for agriculture.

The meeting this year was composed of two-day online events. In the first day’s morning session,  Kim Si-yeol, chairperson of the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development presented a special address. Also, Jeong Min-kook, the head of the KREI Center for Agricultural Outlook, delivered an address, “The Outlook on Agriculture and Farm Household Economy.” The presentations were followed by the New Year’s Dialogue, moderated by KREI President Kim Hong-sang.

The first day’s afternoon session was arranged for discussions and presentations on agricultural policy issues for 2022. The session was divided into four sub-topics, including rural renewal in the age of depopulation, carbon neutrality and agricultural paradigm shift, new challenges and opportunities for the agricultural industry, and innovative distribution systems for farm produce.

The second day was composed of nine group discussions for agricultural sub-sectors, including vegetables, food crops, hoofed mammals, fruits, and international crops.
