KREI’s new research groups will identify issues and suggest policy directions

The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held the 2020 Workshop for KREI department heads on February 20. The KREI department heads attending the workshop discussed ways for practical research in 2020, which is likely to bring significant changes in agricultural policy. The participants listened to each department’s research directions for the year and the work plans of research groups newly set up this year.

KREI has set up and run six groups for research areas, including the direct payment scheme, inclusive growth/ balanced development, sustainable livestock farming, food planning, and peace/ new southern & northern policies. Their implementation plans were shared in the workshop.  The research groups are cross-department organizations consisting of KREI researchers specializing in the six research areas. They plan to identify essential policy issues and support agricultural policies through research.
