Purpose of Research
○ This research aims to conduct a panel survey on the annual changes in South Korea’s rural villages and propose policy directions based on an analysis and in-depth study of the survey results. In the fourth year of the research, the overarching framework of previous village surveys is maintained. However, this research focuses on examining the current state and changes in the physical conditions of rural villages to explore policy directions.

Research Method
○This research is a long-term project spanning 10 years. The overarching framework of the survey was maintained in 2023, the fourth year of the research. The current state and changes in rural villages were analyzed. Additionally, a separate in-depth study examined the characteristics of changes in rural villages, particularly the physical conditions and corresponding changes. Interview surveys were conducted with 102 panel village leaders using a structured questionnaire and onsite observational surveys were conducted in 10 villages. To provide a detailed examination on the physical changes in rural villages, surveys were conducted in 35 panel villages for the in-depth study.
