Directions and measures for Green Growth in rural Korea

This study aims to develop indicators and measures to achieve Green Growth in rural Korea. The objectives of this study are as followings. The first objective is to review the definition of Green Growth and its implication in rural development policy. The second is to review the EU Natura 2000 project. The third is to make the Index for Rural Green Growth. The fourth is to develop and propose the policy measures for Green Growth.

Based on some results of literature survey, statistical analysis, and Q-method, we proposed the several strategical orientation to achieve Green Growth in rural Korea, as followings. The central government should provide the institutional infra by which many local governments in rural area can make their own Green Growth plan and implement proper policies systematically. Management system for green resources in rural area should be built. The central and local governments' efforts for green economy should focus on creating green jobs. Governments' energy policy should build the infra for renewable energy use.
