ABSTRACT
U.S has focused on exporting apples to Asian countries since 1990's. Japan can not impose restrictions on imports of U.S. apples because WTO finally ruled on Japan apple barriers. In the future Korea will open the apple market to the U.S. as Japan did. To cope with U.S. apples, we improve the quality of apples in terms of sweetness and texture as well as price competitiveness of apples. In order to differentiate domestic products from imported apples, organic apple growing will be more attractive to farmers.
The pooling system is necessary to apple industry. The pooling should be a basis to enhance bargaining power of cooperatives and to improve the quality of apples. And the warehouse should be the important role on implementing the pooling.
