A Study on Modelling and Management of the OECD World Agricultural Outlook Model: ‘Aglink 2003’
Aglink model is a dynamic ex-anti simulation model and a demand-supply partial equilibrium model of the world agricultural sector. The model was developed by the OECD Secretariat in cooperation with member countries in 1993 and has been used to carry out the OECD mid-term (or long-term) world agricultural outlook and simulate for various policy analyses.
As this study will be carried out continuously year by year, the final aim is to build sufficient application capacity to analyses the world agriculture market. And the objective of this year is to build basic capacity for model application.
Main content of this study is listed as follows. The research background, aims of this study, review of preceding researches and the scope of this study are introduced in the first chapter.
In the 2nd chapter, we focus on introduction for understanding of the model and systematic methods for better use. That is, the history of Aglink model development, current usage situation of the model by the OECD Secretariat, the imported commodities and importing countries reflected in the model, the general structure of Troll (restricted version for aglink) and how to operate Troll and Aglink are dealt with in this chaper.
Also, we introduced the baseline results drawn out by Aglink 2003 (using Troll program) and examined the Korean module in the 3rd chaper. Several simulations such as the impact on Korean exchange rate and Pacific beef price changes were introduced with their outputs.
Finally, Aglink related activities were reported. That is, the results of the Aglink 2003 user group meeting held by the OECD Secretariat in June 2003 were introduced. And the draft scenarios for Aglink 2004 were also reviewed.
