Abstract
This paper is to estimate the
conservation value of wetlands using the contingent valuation method. The paper
uses a multiple bounded discrete choice elicitation technique that allows
respondents to express their level of voting certainty for a wide range of
referendum thresholds. As a result, respondents answer that they would be
definitely willing to pay 9,853 Korean won, probably willing to pay 17,427 won,
and not sure willing to pay 38,984 won per year per household for
conserving the wetlands under this study. The results show that an estimate of
the aggregated conservation value of the wetlands for all Korean households is
approximately 615 billion won in the "not sure" scenario.
