KREI held a celebration marking its 37th founding anniversary, April 1, at the main conference room on March 31. The event consisted of a ceremony, time for commemorative photos, rewards for excellent research projects and long-serving employees, a photo exhibition of the institute’s history, video watching, a presentation on KREI’s history, and retired employees’ requests.
The ceremony was attended by about 60 retired employees including former presidents such as Kim Yeong-jin, Heo Sin-haeng, Jeong Yeong-il, Park Sang-u, Kang Jeong-il, Lee Jeong-hwan, and Choi Jeong-seop. They reminisced about the institute’s past with the present staff members, which foreshadowed the end of the Hongneung era of KREI that would relocate to Gwangju-Jeonnam joint innovative city in July.
That day, rewards were also given to outstanding research projects and long-term employees. A study on the “Establishment of Sustainable Agriculture System in Korea (Year 2 of 2),” led by research director Kim Chang-gil, received the best research project award.
