 The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) had a meeting of the Farmers’ Group Ex-Presidents Society at the main conference room from 10 am on Thursday, August 7. Song Mi-ryung, director of the Planning & Coordination Office made a presentation on KREI’s operation and current research projects, and Kim Tae-hun, director of the Grain Outlook Office presented main issues and implications on the theme of “Understanding of Rice Tariffication.” Director Kim said that tariffication of rice is inevitable and stressed, “It is time to focus on preparing measures to develop the rice industry.” The society including its chair, Yu Dong-jun (ex-president of the Korea Feed Ingredients Association) discussed the entire agriculture sector such as rice tariffication, agricultural products distribution, environment-friendly agriculture, the sixth industry, aging in rural areas, and the Korea-China FTA with President Choi and the researchers. KREI will reflect the opinions presented at the meeting in the operation and research of the institute. |
