The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) hosted the 2014 KREI Reporters Workshop at Kyeryong Spatel in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon on June 18.

About 140 people including representative reporters of each city and county and KREI staff concerned attended the workshop. They listened to lectures on the sixth industry, had regional meetings, and discussed activity plans by region.

KREI President Choi Sei-kyun said, “This year is the fifth year since the KREI Reporters system was launched, and there have been many achievements meanwhile.” He gave 43 new reporters appointment letters and awarded appreciation plaques and commendations to members who made a big contribution as reporters for the past year.

The lectures on the sixth industry in agriculture and discussions followed the opening ceremony. Dr. Kim Yong-lyoul at the institute delivered a keynote presentation about the sixth industry, and four local experts including KREI Reporters shared success factors through case-study presentations. Meetings by nine regions were also held to discuss regional activity plans and revitalization measures.
