The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held a new year's day ceremony at the institute's Conference Hall on January 3, 2011. Oh Se-Ik, president of Korea Rural Economic Institute, delivered an opening address and urged all his staff to bring to fruition the institute's visions based on understanding and trust.
Noting that the circumstances surrounding Korean agriculture and rural villages don't seem accommodating, President Oh urged, "Let's stand together with passion for agriculture and rural villages, have a sense of ownership and a firm vision, and make our visions come true based on understanding and trust."
Oh added that in 2011 KREI should build an inspirational organization culture based on understanding and shared goals and values, and as a research hub of agricultural policy, strengthen research cooperation at home and abroad by actively engaging in exchanges with universities and research institutes around the world.
President Oh also urged his research staff to enhance the quality of research and conduct preemptive research so that farmers, consumers, and the government alike can be satisfied.
He stressed, "Since the future of Korean agriculture and rural villages is on our shoulders, we should stand as one, be respectful and caring for each other, and do our best to achieve our goals."
