The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) commemorated its 30th anniversary on April 1 with an international seminar titled "Challenges of the Agricultural Sector and Strategies for Cooperation among Korea, China and Japan."

At the seminar, which was held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, KREI President Choi Jung-Sup delivered opening remarks and said that the seminar was organized to seek ways to overcome the current crisis faced by Korean agriculture and rural communities and to develop new engines of growth.

In the opening address, President Choi also expressed his wish that the participants of the seminar can find ways for the coexistence of the three countries in the agricultural sector as they are faced with similar problems in the process of globalization.

Three keynote speakers delivered speeches at the seminar and they were Duan Yingbi, president of China Agricultural Economics Association, Shinichi Shogenji, dean of the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and Park Jung-Keun, professor of agricultural economics at Chonbuk National University.
