The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held the 27th "Agricultural Outlook 2024" on January 25th at Dragon City in Seoul.

For this year's Agricultural Outlook conference, KREI chose the theme of "Agriculture and Rural Areas in the Era of Uncertainty: Challenges and Future." The conference was divided into three parts: Part 1 focused on "Policy Direction and the Future of Korean Agriculture," Part 2 addressed "Current Issues in 2024 Agricultural Policy," and Part 3 delved into "Industry-specific Issues and Outlook."

In Part 1, a special lecture titled "Hope in the Era of Economic Uncertainty in Korea in 2024" was delivered. Following this, KREI presented the "Trends and Outlook of Agriculture and Rural Economy in 2024," while the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs discussed the topic of "Adapting to the Era of Uncertainty: Policy Challenges and Governance Direction."

Part 2 highlighted key issues facing agriculture and rural areas, including strategies for stable agricultural management and achieving carbon neutrality in response to uncertainties such as climate change and food security. It also addressed the development direction and challenges of emerging industries like the green bio-industry and related industries such as pet-related industries, as well as strategies for coping with rural depopulation and revitalizing rural areas, especially through policies targeting rural youth.

Part 3 featured presentations and Q&A sessions on supply trends and outlooks for various industries such as vegetables, grains, fruits and vegetables, fisheries, and livestock.
