1st Field Survey and Joint Research Workshop for 2019 KAPEX Launched

Korea Rural Economic Institute's Center of International Agricultural Partnership (CIAP) visited PhilRice, Department of Agricultural Research at Myanmar's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, and Indonesia Soil Research Institute of Ministry of Agriculture. Together, they accomplished the first workshop of field survey and joint research for the 2019 Korea Agricultural Policy Experiences for Food Security (hereinafter referred to as KAPEX) from the 14th to the 30th of April, 2019.

Through consultation with the target countries from 2017 to 2018, the following project themes were selected: "Developing the corn value chains to increase farm household income" for Myanmar; "Strengthening agricultural productivity through the development of eco-friendly fertilizer industry" for Indonesia, and "Building a distribution system for high-yielding rice varieties" for the Philippines. Official visits, meetings, and on-site investigations respectively to the Philippines, Myanmar, and Indonesia have taken place, and later, research direction has also been discussed.

The information shared in the first workshop of field survey and joint research will be used as primary data to discover the cooperative projects for development by each country in the future. In addition, the Center for International Agricultural Partnership will be planning to have a visiting program, which includes lectures on agricultural policy experiences and field trips for hands-on workers and high-level people in each partner country.
