“The sixth industrialization of agriculture is a new opportunity for Northeast Asia’s agricultural development”

□ The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held the 10th FANEA (Forum for Agricultural Policy Research in North East Asia) Symposium on the sixth industrialization of agriculture and new value creation with the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IAED/CAAS) and Japan’s Policy Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (PRIMAFF) at KREI’s main conference room on June 12.

□ KREI (Korea), IAED/CAAS (China), and PRIMAFF (Japan) co-founded FANEA in 2003 to promote Northeast Asia’s agricultural research, information exchange, and academic activities. The three countries have hosted an international symposium each year in turn, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of the symposium.

□ The forum consisted of two sessions. The first session’s theme was “The Sixth Industrialization of Agriculture.” It is especially meaningful that the three institutes conducted joint research on this theme and published a book, The 6th Industrialization of Agriculture, and compared the research results through presentations and discussions. The second session’s theme was “New Value Creation in Agriculture.”
