The Beijing Office of Korea Rural Economic Institute hosted the 8th Korea-China Agriculture Forum under the theme of "The Current State and Policy of Food Supply and Demand in China" on November 23rd in Bejing. A total of 35 participants took part in the forum including related officials and experts from the Korean embassy and other organizations related to Korean agriculture in China.
At the forum, Wang Jimin, deputy director general of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development (IAED) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), delivered a keynote speech. Wang told about various policies the Chinese government has adopted to secure food security in China, pointing out that China is currently faced with big challenges in the quest, such as lack of water resources, decline and quality degradation of cultivated land, lack of scientific and technological advancement, and decreasing profit of food cultivation.
