The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) hosted a policy forum on June 16 at the New Millenium Hall of Konkuk University to find desirable ways to restructure Nonghyup and stimulate its non-banking business. At the opening ceremony, KREI President Oh Se-Ik asked the participants to engage in lively discussions to find various ways to stimulate the domestic agricultural produce market since it is very important to the restructuring of Nonghyup. Following the speech, Hwang Eui-Sik, senior research fellow of KREI, delivered a presentation on future visions of the agricultural cooperative and on how to stimulate its non-banking business. At the policy forum, interested parties contemplated the future of Nonghyup's non-banking business and sought various ways to stimulate it.
In the meantime, the Korea Rural Economic Institute plans to reflect the opinions of various circles and prepare sound policies that could help increase farmer's income and assist Nonghyup to make continued progress.
