KREI hosts the 2021 Agricultural Outlook KREI hosted the 2021 Agricultural Outlook on January 20 under the theme of Rural Changes and Future after COVID-19, which was organized virtually due to the pandemic. The first session started with a special address on Social Changes and Rural Communities after Three Decades by Hyeon-Geon Kim, the president of the National Assembly Futures Institute. Following his speech, Seong-Yong Kook, the head of the Department of Agricultural Outlook of KREI, presented the 2021 Outlook on Agriculture and Rural Economy. Mr. Kook predicted that agricultural production this year would grow to KRW 52.5 trillion while agricultural household income would rise to KRW 43.7 million. The second session with a theme of the 2021 Agricultural Policy Issues consisted of four sections, including Rural Communities’ Responses to the Changed Environment, Future Hopes through Rural Revitalization, and the Korean New Deal and Agricultural Tasks, and Food Distribution Reforms in COVID-19. Participants listened to presentations and took part in discussions. In the third session under the main topic of Industrial Issues and Prospects, participants shared opinions in five sections, including grains, vegetables, livestock, and forest products. |
