The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) and the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences (NIMS) of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) had a policy research council meeting on “utilization of weather and climate information and agrometeorology” in the KREI seminar room (Naju, Jeollanam-do) on the 24th. The two institutes have continuously cooperated with each other since the signing of an MOU in 2012. This council meeting aimed to increase the use of weather information in the agricultural sector. The council meeting began with KMA Administrator Nam Jaecheol’s talent donation lecture on “Climate Change and Efforts for a Sustainable Earth,” followed by KREI’s presentations on “The Agricultural Outlook Service Status and a Weather-Yield Model” and “Effects of Weather and Climate Information Utilization on Farm Household Income.” NIMS made presentations on agrometeorological research and service, climate change monitoring and forecasts, and the production and use of super-high-resolution weather information. KREI and NIMS of the KMA decided to continually strengthen cooperation for advancing agricultural outlook information by utilizing weather information in order to support national agricultural policy including the stabilization of agricultural supply and demand. |
