14th International Agricultural Partnership Forum Hosted
“Support for developing countries and international agricultural development need public-private partnership”

The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI, President Kim Changgil) held the 14th International Agricultural Partnership Forum on “supporting national development utilizing public-private partnership and its relevance to agricultural/rural development” at the Westin Chosun Seoul from 3 p.m. on August 21 (Mon.).
Since the UN General Assembly adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in New York, September 2015, sustainable rural projects have drawn attention. With this backdrop, this forum reviewed the performance and significance of public-private partnerships (PPPs), an important means to secure finances in international agricultural/rural development and cooperation.
The first speaker, department head Kim Sungwoo at Samjong KPMG, made a presentation on methods of agricultural/rural development in developing countries utilizing the Green Fund, emphasizing the use of the Green Climate Fund. In the second presentation on agricultural/rural PPP projects for regional development, Director Kim Yongbin of the Development Marketing Institute sought the possibility of introducing PPP models in developing nations. Director Kim stressed establishing concrete plans on investors and projects and market-led plans. In the third presentation on PPP cases financed by Korea Eximbank and lessons learned, Dr. Kim Youngkee at Korea Eximbank discussed matters for developing countries to consider in implementing PPP projects.
