The 26th Agricultural Outlook Conference, organized by the Korea Rural Economic Institute and sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, was held at the aT Center (Seoul) on January 18 (Wed.).

The theme of the 2023 Agricultural Outlook Conference was “The Innovation and Future of Agriculture and Rural Areas.” The event consisted of the following three parts: “Agricultural Policy Directions and the Future of Korean Agriculture”; “Agricultural Policy Issues in 2023”; and “Issues and Outlook by Industry.”

Part 1, which began with a special lecture on the importance of economic security, featured a presentation on major indicators and forecasts related to agriculture and rural areas, “Agriculture and the Farm Household Economy: Trends and Outlook, 2023.” Then experts examined key issues regarding agriculture and rural areas in 2022, and a New Year symposium for the 2023 forecast followed.

In the second part, experts in each field discussed and shared information on various plans that have become agricultural policy issues in 2023 with their significance highlighted recently.

Part 3 featured presentations and discussions on each industry’s supply and demand trends and outlook, such as vegetables, grain, fruit, fruit vegetables, forest products, and livestock products.
