KREI Seeks Korea-Ukraine Agricultural Cooperation Methods The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI, President Kim Changgil) attended the 5th Korea-Ukraine Economic Forum in Kiev, Ukraine on July 28 and 29. The Korea-Ukraine Economic Forum, first hosted in June 2016, was held four times so far to seek ways to cooperate with Ukraine, a traditional agricultural power, in various areas including agriculture and ICT. KREI is also participating in the forum, taking the lead in seeking agricultural cooperation plans between the two countries. In the forum that day, Lee Daeseob, director of KREI’s Center for International Agricultural Partnership, proposed the two nations’ concrete collaboration methods through his presentation on Korea-Ukraine Cooperation Plans and Strategies in Agriculture in the second session on agricultural cooperation. KREI honorary research director Choi Jihyeon took part in discussion and presented diverse opinions on implications of agricultural cooperation cases between the two countries, and future collaboration plans related to business models. In the roundtable discussion, KREI President Kim Changgil stressed the need to invest in the form of public-private partnership in consideration of the overall value chain of agriculture. He also said, “Ukraine as an agricultural power can cooperate with Korea in many fields,” and “I hope that today’s forum contributes to strengthening our two countries’ economic partnership.”
