The Korea Rural Economic Institute held 'KREI Reporters Forum 2011' on May 3~4 at Sangnok Resort in Cheonan to strengthen communication with its local correspondents. Over 150 people took part in the forum and various events were held, such as special lectures, presentations on farming experience, exhibition of products, report contest, and regional meetings. After the events, KREI reporters held discussions on promotion of information exchange and future plans.
At the opening ceremony, President Oh Se-Ik delivered a welcoming speech and asked KREI reporters to take a lead in maintaining and improving the health of Korean agriculture and rural communities. Thirty seven new KREI reporters were appointed and appreciation plaques were presented. Following the ceremony, KREI reporters delivered presentations on their farming experience and held lively discussions with KREI researchers on issues related to rice farming, cultivation of fruits and vegetables as specialty crops, and livestock farming.
